ReptiShelter ™ cave is a unique terrarium accessory with a natural look for many species of reptiles, which acts as a natural hiding place, space for shedding or laying eggs.

Now made of environmentally friendly ceramics!

Many species of reptiles and amphibians have a lack of moisture in captivity which can lead to respiratory problems and problematic shedding. The cave allows reptiles to take refuge in a humid environment or. "microclimate", which is created inside the cave and is similar to natural dens, hiding places under rocks, stones, logs, ...

The addition of a suitable substrate to the pit (Eco Earth substrate, Terrarium moss, ...) creates an idyllic moist space for optimal shedding and egg laying. The cave provides reptiles with adequate space for laying eggs, thus preventing the occurrence of dystocia - a complication where the female cannot lay eggs.

The durable ceramic construction makes it easy to wash and sterilize, and the removable lid makes it easy to check your animal or remove eggs. Suitable for housing many popular species of reptiles.

Instructions for use: remove the product from the packaging and clean it with Zoo Med Wipe Out or wash with soap and warm water. After drying the product with a towel or cloth, place it in the terrarium. Never place the product directly on or under a heat source. To create an ideal "microclimate", place moss or other substrate such as   ZOO MED ECO EARTH suitable for reptiles in the cave. Maintain humidity by constantly moistening the substrate. You can also use the cave as a dry cave to hide snakes. Then install in the lower part e.g.  ZOO MED REPTIBARK

In case you want to create an ideal place to lay eggs, add vermiculite to the bottom. Check regularly for eggs in the pit. Be sure to consult an expert first or read the manual on reptiles and amphibians and the whole process of hatching eggs and the appropriate conditions.

Cleaning: Periodically clean the pit with  WIPE OUT  or dish detergent and warm water. Before cleaning, remove the substrate you had in the pit. After cleaning, dry well and place back in the terrarium and add new fresh substrate or other bedding.
